Out and About – Week of October 4th

Every so often, I have readers mention how much they enjoy reading the items of trivia or unusual facts that I include in this column from time to time. I usually insert these items when I have extra space in the column. This week’s column is for those trivia lovers. I will, of course, include items that might make you want to get off that couch and get Out and About.

LAWS OF ULTIMATE REALITY

Law of Biomechanics – The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

The Starbucks Law – As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

A FEW OXYMORONS

Why do “tug” boats push their barges?

Why is it called “after dark”, when it really “after light”?

Why is “phonics” not spelled the way it sounds?

If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting?

This may seem a little early, but another event you’ll want to add to your kitchen calendar is Tuesday, October 26, when the Vocal Music Department at Three Rivers Community Schools will present their annual concert. The Three Rivers High School Performing Arts Center is the place, and 7 P.M. is the time for this entertaining event. Admission is free. This is a great time to get out and support these students.

October is full of things to do. Homecoming is Friday, October 15, and the Fall Color Tour will be two days later on the 17th. Watch this paper for more details.

See you Out and About!
