Joe Simmons, 95

Joseph John (nee: Szymanski) Simmons, age 95, of Jones, MI passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers, MI. Joe was born on January 16, 1917 in Chicago, Il., the son of Frank and Mary Szymanski.

Mr. Simmons was raised in Lansing, IL. It was there he formed a lasting relationship with his great friends Mr. Robert and Frances Mayer. Joe followed them to Buchanan, MI. in 1978 to help Bob with his business and then in 1984 they moved to Jones, MI. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his loving friends, Robert and Frances Mayer, and their family, who fondly knew him as “Grandpa Joe”, of Three Rivers; three brothers, John, Chester, and Stanley Szymanski, and two sisters, Helen and Frances.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 from 5:00 until 6:00p.m. at the Hohner Funeral Home 1004 Arnold St; Three Rivers, MI 49093.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00a.m. March 3, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 637 S. Douglas Ave; Three Rivers, Mi 49093 with Fr. Robert Johansen as celebrant.

Interment will be held in Moorepark Cemetery, Three Rivers.
