Two Fabius Township residents were assaulted by three men following an incident Tuesday morning.
According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, a woman knocked on the front door of a residence in the 13000 block of Mohney Lake Road shortly after 7 a.m. and told the resident that her vehicle broke down.
When one of the occupants went outside with the female, he was rushed by a trio of male subjects in masks. He was assaulted with a baseball bat before the three entered the home and assaulted another occupant.
The intruders fled the home after the residents attempted to defend themselves, according to investigators. The suspects got into a vehicle parked down the road and drove east on Mohney Lake Road.
The victims were treated at Three Rivers Health. The suspects, meanwhile, remain at large.
