Matson sworn in on Tuesday

The Three Rivers City Commission is back at full strength, as Larry Matson was sworn into the post Tuesday.

After taking the oath of office from city clerk Lindsay Howes, the 68-year-old Matson took his seat to the seven-member panel.

Matson, a longtime former member of the Three Rivers Zoning Board of Appeals, is filling the seat left vacant by Ken Baker. Baker resigned from the commission April 2 due to health-related issues.

Matson wasted little time getting involved, as he weighed in on a discussion regarding a dispute between the city and the Three Rivers Public Library Board of Trustees.

Matson represents the city’s Third District. He will stay on board into November and said he’ll run at that time for the remaining 12 months left from Baker’s original two-year term.
