County Commission meeting

Resolutions honoring a trio of county officials highlight today’s St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The board’s final meeting of 2012 will see resolutions honoring District Court Judge William Welty, and commissioners Jerry Ware and Larry Walton. Welty is retiring after a 22-year tenure as judge, while Ware and Walton are leaving the county board, which is shrinking from seven members to five in 2013.

Also on the agenda is a presentation of 2012 highlights, to be shared by Chairman Rick Shaffer, and the setting of meeting dates and times for 2013. In addition, Clerk Pattie Bender will swear in the five returning commissioners for their two-year terms.

Today’s 5 o’clock meeting takes place in the third floor commissioner’s room.
