Esther Lunger, 90

Esther M. Lunger, age 90, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 22, 2012, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.

She was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Bremen, Ind., daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Pippenger) Huber.

Esther resided in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area most of her life.

On Sept. 19, 1975, she married Leo C. Lunger in Burr Oak. He died July 29, 1998.

Esther retired from Kenco Engineering in Middlebury, Ind., following several years of dedicated employment. Prior to joining Kenco she had worked at Transogram Manufacturing in Sturgis for 18 years and for many years owned and operated a fabric and doll shop in her home.

She is survived by four daughters, Donna (James) Myers of Orland, Ind., Marilyn (Lewis) Lukazcek of Quincy, Judy (Darrel Klinger) Dixon of Bronson and Margaret Sprowl of Marquette; two sons, Charles (Karole) Baker of Bronson and Ed Baker of Brighton; 24 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris (Marcia) Huber of Sturgis; one sister, Betty Walker of Bronson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Kenneth Baker; and four sisters, Evelyn Lykins, Ardella Berberich, Annagale Geiger and Georgia Ellison; and one brother, Harry Huber.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Esther M. Lunger will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Metzger of the Jamestown Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the East Springfield Cemetery in rural LaGrange, Indiana.
