Jon Congdon, 28

Jonathon D. Congdon, 28, of Stevensville, and formerly of Sturgis, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home.

Jon was born June 20, 1984, in Niles to Edwin Dale Congdon and Judy Smith. He was veteran of the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Jon was attending Lake Michigan College. His hobbies included skateboarding and snowboarding.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Smith, of Benton Harbor; his grandparents, Janice Terlisner of Benton Harbor, Carol Ridge of Dowagiac and Edwin Clyde Congdon of Lawrence; a brother, Dalton Congdon, of Sturgis; a sister, Courtney Hambright, of Sturgis; and many other family members and friends.

A time of sharing his life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Harbor. A time of gathering will take place 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Fairplain.

Cremation has taken place. Burial of the ashes will be held at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
