Norma Mae Sabrosky, age 88, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Saturday morning December 29, 2012 at her home.
She was born December 14, 1924 in Sturgis, Michigan daughter of the late Fred W. and Mae E. (Butterfield) Meyers.
Mrs. Sabrosky was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1943.
On November 8, 1947 she married Mark D. Sabrosky at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis. He died March 20, 1990.
During WWII she had been employed by Freeman Manufacturing in Sturgis. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. When her children were older she assumed the position of booker keeper for her brothers, Ralph and Richard Meyers at Meyers Service Station in Sturgis a job she enjoyed for several years.
Mrs. Sabrosky was a lifelong active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis where she was involved in Sunday school for over 50 years. She was a member of the Ladies Mission Circle and served on the Alter Guild for many years. She enjoyed cooking and loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by one daughter: Julia Sabrosky of Sturgis; one son: Kurt Sabrosky of Sturgis; one grandson: Myles Sabrosky of Sturgis; one brother: Richard “Dick” Meyers of Sturgis and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Harold Meyers and Ralph Meyers.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. Wednesday at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1108 E. Lafayette St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Norma Mae Sabrosky will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. Paul Stern will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
