Myra Ellen Beachey, age 79, of Constantine, died Monday, January 27th, 2014 at Riverview Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Three Rivers on September 15, 1934, a daughter of Everett and Ruth (Hoyt) Foust. Myra graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1952. On August 13, 1955 she married Norman Beachey at Ninth Street Methodist Church, Three Rivers. He preceded her in death June 16, 2008. Myra worked as a teachers aid at East Side Elementary Constantine for 27 years retiring in 1994. Myra previously worked for Michigan Power and the Riviera Theater. She was a member of the Constantine United Methodist Church participating in making May Day and Sunshine baskets, delivering to the elderly and shut-ins. Myra was a lifetime member of Constantine American Legion #223 Auxiliary, serving as Americanism chairperson. She collected bells and spoons, loved to travel the United States and abroad and cherished spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her daughters Debra Burgess, Constantine, Nancy Beachey, Constantine, son Gary (Penny) Beachey, White Pigeon, sisters Betty Kirschenbauer, Three Rivers, Helen (Charles) Carpenter, Three Rivers, Sue (Bob) Fellows, Centreville, brother Kenneth (Linda) Foust, Centreville, grandchildren Amanda Landry, Rebecca Burgess, Tyler (Kim) Rice, Ron Rice, 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law Ralph “Bud” Burgess and 2 great grandchildren.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, February 15th from 11am to 1pm at Constantine United Methodist Church. Memorial Services will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Constantine Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Constantine United Methodist Church or Southern Care Hospice.
