Betty J. Whitney, 87, of Kalamazoo and formerly of Mendon, passed away at Borgess Medical Center on Feb. 11, 2014.
Betty was born in Kalamazoo on Jan. 6, 1927 to Coreneluis and Myrtle (Wilkinson) Vleugel. A homemaker, Betty dedicated her life to her family. Visit with her family on Monday from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17 at Life Story Funeral Homes, Vicksburg; 409 S. Main St. (649-1697) where a funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2004, her son, Michael Whitney, in 2013 and her brother, Richard Vleugel.
She is survived by her sons, Steven (Bea) Whitney, Edward (Joan) Whitney and Robert (Beverly) Whitney; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Laura Steinberg, Mary Ellen (Burl) Davidson, Nelson (Dorothy) Vleugel and Arlene (Ron) Wolfe; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Vleugel as well as many other relatives.
