Sturgis man arrested

A Sturgis man faces a number of charges after he led police on a vehicle pursuit over the weekend in Burr Oak Township.

State police officials said Corey Roggow, 33, failed to pull over at 5:25 p.m. Sunday after he was observed not wearing a seatbelt.

Roggow drove a 1989 GMC pickup east on Hackman Road near M-66 then allegedly sped up to 100 miles per hour as he continued on a variety of paved and gravel roads, and failed to stop at two intersections. The pursuit lasted about five miles before Roggow stopped at the intersection of Carpenterson and Kelly roads.

Roggow, however, fled on foot southbound on Carpenterson Road before troopers caught him.

After a search of the vehicle by a MSP canine, Roggow was found in possession of 3.5 grams of methamphetamine. Roggow has been charged with several felonies, including fleeing and eluding, possession of meth, operating under the influence of drugs, driving while license suspended and parole violation.

A passenger, Mendon resident Brian Lowery, is also on parole but was not arrested at this time.
