Children’s Trauma Assessment Group holds ribbon-cutting ceremony

A ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place at 4 o’clock this afternoon for the Children’s Trauma Assessment Group of St. Joseph County.
Located next to the county’s United Way headquarters in Centreville, the CTAG provides a 24-hour, comfortable environment where children can talk to law-enforcement officials in conducting sensitive cases.
The only area location available for such an assessment is at Western Michigan University’s Children’s Trauma Assessment Center, where waits for up to three month are common. With CTAG as an option, its officials estimate wait times for interviews will be one week or less.
The St. Joseph County United Way has played a key role in the creation of the center, along with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
