Sturgis police seek man after he fled from officers

Sturgis police will seek several charges against a 47-year-old Sturgis man after he fled from officers.
About 3:30 p.m. Monday, police were called to Family Video on South Centerville Road regarding a man passed out in a vehicle. Police said they found the man mumbling incoherently.
Once he was awakened, he drove away from police. Officers located the car behind a home on Ohio Court. The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped through a nearby field.
A Michigan State Police K-9 was summoned to attempt to track the man. Police later learned the vehicle was stolen from Illinois in 2014. Police identified the man and will seek charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, and resisting/obstructing a police officer.
