St. Joseph County unemployment unchanged

The June unemployment rate in St. Joseph County was unchanged compared to a month earlier.
The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget showed St. Joseph County’s 4.7 percent June unemployment rate was equal to the same figure in May.
June’s unemployment rate was 1.2 percent less than the same month one year earlier, when the figure was 5.9 percent.
St. Joseph County remained below the state unemployment average, which was 5.8 percent in June.
The agency said more people holding seasonal employment in construction, hospitality and leisure helped maintain the region’s stable rate for the month.
At 4.3 percent, Allegan County had the region’s lowest unemployment rate in June, while Van Buren County had the highest, at 6.3 percent.
