Two candidates for Sturgis City Commission

Two experienced candidates have offered their services to fill a vacancy on the Sturgis City Commission.
Meeting last week’s application deadline were Jeff Mullins and Steven Shevick. Both are residents of Precinct 1, located on the city’s southeast side.
Each is vying to succeed Michael Austermann, who resigned Oct. 14.
Mullins was appointed to Sturgis Planning Commission earlier this year after an unsuccessful bid in April to fill an at- large commission term created when Commissioner Michael Gay resigned. That seat went to Jon Good.
Shevick has been a long- time member of the Doyle Community Center Board.
The candidates will be interviewed by the full city commission during a work session beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday at city hall. Commissioners are expected make their choice at the regular meeting that follows at 7:30 p. m.
