George B. Garl, Sr., age 69, of Constantine, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Alamo Nursing Home in Kalamazoo. He was born November 2, 1946 in Mason Twp, a son of Vernon and Jeanette (Miller) Garl. George graduated from Constantine High School in 1966. George served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked his farm and also worked at Miles Lab in Elkhart for 16 years and then Elkhart Products, retiring in 2011. In December 1966 George married Doris Robinson. They later divorced; she passed away August 31, 2014. In 2000 he married Marlies Plotz, she preceded him on December 2, 2008. George was a member of the NRA, Constantine American Legion, and Cass County Conservation Club. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing, hunting and mushrooming. George especially loved his family and grandchildren.
Surviving George are his children, George (Susan) Garl, Jr., Colon; Sarah (Paul) Webb, White Pigeon; Dana (Danyel) Garl, Jones; Ulrike (George) Webb, Constantine; step children Elke (Juan) Morales, NY; Anita Rasvlo, NY; Albert (Petra) Traxel, Germany; Michaela Lawrence, NY; 30 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brothers Russell (Lucy) Garl, Cassopolis; Dale Garl, Cassopolis; Daniel (Amy) Garl, Constantine; sisters Virginia Garl, Dunlap, IN; and Marcia (Tom) Anglemyer, Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brother Edward Garl and sister Carol Anglemyer.
Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine, where Services will be held Thursday at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Twp.
