Kalamazoo County administrator gets $65K severance payment

A Kalamazoo County administrator from Iowa who resigned following allegations of mistreatment of women is getting a $65,000 severance payment.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports Terrence Neuzil will get a one-time payment of six-months’ salary and an extension of employee-sponsored health insurance benefits for himself and his family under terms of an agreement with Kalamazoo County.

Neuzil vigorously denies the allegations. He says he and his wife are “in shock” and feel “no longer welcome” in southwestern Michigan.

Neuzil’s resignation was accepted Tuesday. He was on paid leave since March 15 — after just three months on the job. He had moved to Kalamazoo from Iowa’s Johnson County, where he was one of five elected supervisors.

Records released by Kalamazoo County show officials were investigating complaints about discrimination against women.  (AP)
