Randy Lowery, 57

Randy Jay Lowery, age 57, of Mendon, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Hampton, VA on Aug. 1, 1958 the son of Jay Dee and Joan (Qaulkenbush) Lowery. He graduated from Muncie High School in 1976 and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Ball State University, and later earned his Associates Degree from Glen Oaks Community College. Randy had been employed at the Pathfinder Center for 25 years until Multiple Sclerosis forced him to retire. He was also employed at Community Mental Health, manning the crisis hotline, and was a volunteer coach for the Special Olympics. Randy loved the wildlife along the St. Joseph River. He enjoyed motorcycle trips and camping with his friends. He had a special appreciation for all music and language.

Randy was married to Suzette Kingman on July 14, 2006 in Centreville. She survives along with his mother, Joan (Jim) Truckey of Mendon; three sisters, Diane (Ron) Bryant of Greenville, SC, Delise Lowery and Dreasa Lowery both of Mendon; a brother, Rick Lowery of Mendon; mother in law, Gloria Kingman of Dowagiac; in-laws, Richmond Kingman, Jr of Lansing, Dan (Joanne) Kingman and Tim Kingman both of Dowagiac, Rebecca (Mark) Nizyborski of Redford, and Jon (Mary Beth) Kingman of Comstock Park; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Dee Lowery; father in law, Richmond Kingman, Sr.; and sister in law, Mary Luthringer.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 pm Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Randy’s life celebration will begin at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home. All are asked to come prepared with their favorite Randy story to share. Memorials may be directed to either the Special Olympics of Michigan, Area 18 (St. Joseph County) , or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
