Magi Pride Days begin

Colon Community Schools is issuing a call-out to anyone interested in helping lend a little effort to spruce up its grounds and buildings.
Superintendent Christine Barnes said the second annual “Magi Pride Days” starts today and runs through Saturday. Over the course of the three days, volunteers will be asked to help with a variety of tasks that include power-washing, painting, tidying up lawn and landscape areas, and other assignments.
The work is primarily outdoors and takes place 3 to 8 p.m. today and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be provided during Saturday’s session, compliments of Palmer Lake Lodges.
Barnes said the work will be concentrated at the high school and Colon Elementary, though a small crew might be directed to Leonidas School.
Anyone who helps out this year is asked to bring garden tools and a pair of work gloves, though a limited quantity of gloves was donated and will be provided until the supply has been exhausted.
Additionally, this year in conjunction with Magi Pride Days the district will have a “Stuff the Bus” event at the high school and elementary school buildings.
