Car stolen in Sturgis

Sturgis Police last week were called to an automobile theft in progress.
Officers responded at 11:57 p.m. Saturday to the 500 block of West Congress Street. The stolen car left the scene at a high rate of speed and it crashed into a vehicle at West Congress and South Jefferson streets.
The driver ran from the scene and an attempt to catch him was unsuccessful despite the efforts of Sturgis Police, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and the use of a K-9 unit from Michigan State Police.
