Les Schrader Jr., 55

Leslie Clyde “Droopy” Schrader Jr., age 55, of Kalamazoo, and a former longtime Colon resident, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 6, 2016, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He was born July 2, 1961, in Sturgis, a son of Leslie and Kathie (Shear) Schrader.
Les resided in Kalamazoo for the past six months. The rest of his life was spent in Colon and he was a graduate of Colon High School with the class of 1980.
Les was a skilled mechanic by trade and had been employed by Tuffy Tire and Auto Service Center in Sturgis for many years.
Les had a passion for stock car racing and for many years drove at area tracks, including Mottville and Galesburg Motor Speedways. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and attending rallies and events. Les loved time spent with his family and many friends and found his greatest joy in making others happy.
The family would like to like to take a moment to extend a special thanks to Ronda Flowers for the care and love her and her family extended to Les.
He is survived by his mother, Kathie Schrader of Colon; four sisters:, Vicky (Mike) Ross of Bronson, Amy Hoffer of Ohio, Vayette (Mitch) Becker of Constantine and Tammy Whitting of Colon; a brother, Randy Schrader of Sturgis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including his cousin Ronda Flowers of Kalamazoo and special friend Rob Benash of Colon.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to share a meal and celebrate and honor the life of Leslie Clyde “Droopy” Schrader will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Camp Fort Hill, 21710 N. Everson Drive, Sturgis.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
