Ralph Haag, 85

ralph-haagMr. Ralph Dean Haag, age 85, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Grace Riverview Manor.  He was born on Oct. 1, 1930 in Mongo, IN., the son of the late William Harley and Edna Bell (Gochenhaur) Haag.

On Sept. 20th, 1956 Dean was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dolores.  He was employed as a certified truck driver for over 35 years with Weiss Trucking Company in Mongo, IN.  Dean loved to hunt and fish, work in his garden, and most of all, Dean cherished his time with family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his constant canine companion, Jake.  He served in the United States Army with the 804th Battalion in Germany, Indiana and Michigan.  He was a member of the Grand Valley Cap N Ballers Muzzle Loader Group.  He was also a member of The American Legion Post # 170.

Mr. Haag was preceded in death by twin infants, Randy Dean and Kandy Jean Haag; brothers, Harley,  Delbert and Burdette Haag; sisters, Ruth Haag, Laurine Myers, Dorothy Devlin, Doris Harker, Margie Day, and Jean Frutig,

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving family, wife Dolores (Greenwalt) Haag, of Marcellus; two daughters, Tina (David) Thornburgh and Sherri Haag; two sons, Larry Haag  and Jeff (Yvonne) Haag,  all of Marcellus;  grandchildren, Eric (Kaley)Thornburgh, Lanee Thornburgh, Matt (Brean) Haag , Corey (Trista) Haag, Brei Ann (Scott Collins) Haag, Lance (Heather McComas) Haag, Jody Carpenter, Jason Welburn, Stefany Thornburgh, and JaLisa Poindexter; great grandchildren, Carter, Cole, Ella and Eli Thornburgh, Rhylee and Karlee Welburn, Devyn Hempel and Lita Mae Collins, Madison and Logyn Haag, Peyton Gibson, Jackson Haag, Jayden Haag, Kirsten and Jade Eby; sisters, Janet Miller, Jeanette Sisson, and Phyllis Wilson; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hohner Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Wiggins of the Edwards Corners Bible Church where Dean attended.

Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post #170 following services.

Memorials may be donated to Edwards Corners Bible Church or Southern Care Hospice of Portage, MI.  Envelopes available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.hohnerfh.com.
