Lois Bell, 90

Lois Marie “Ma” Bell, age 90, formerly of Constantine, died on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, IL. She was born on August 6, 1926 in Bristol, IN, a daughter of Samuel and Sylvia (Rought) Detwiler. On April 22, 1944 she married Richard Bell in Brownwood, TX. He preceded her in death January 6, 2003. Lois and Richard operated their family farm on Constantine Road for many years. She was instrumental in the creation of the Three Rivers Health Inpatient Hospice Respite Suite opened in 2004.

Surviving are her daughter Marlene Armstrong, Washington, IL, sons Ronald (Patricia) Bell, Constantine, and Richard (Patricia) Bell Jr. Henderson, NY, 11 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, sister Mildred “Millie” Watts, Marcellus, and brother Frank Detwiler, Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great grandson Danniel Gardner, sisters Bonita Belle Morningstar and Lillie Sweat, and brothers James Detwiler and LeRoy Detwiler.

Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 12 – 2 pm at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will be held at 2 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Ed McCutchan, Constantine United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Peek Cemetery.
