Police release name of man killed during Michigan break-in

Authorities have released the name of a man who tried to break into a northern Michigan home and was fatally shot by a homeowner.

WSGW-AM and MLive.com report 21-year-old Jesse Odell of Oscoda was found dead by police Sunday night in Tawas City. State records say he was on probation in a drug case.

Police say a 66-year-old man was home when two men wearing masks and brandishing knives entered and tried to rob him. He shot them both with a rifle.

The second suspect, a 29-year-old Oscoda man, was treated for a gunshot wound at the scene and then flown to a Saginaw hospital. Police say he’s expected to survive. Police have said the homeowner wasn’t injured in the confrontation. He hasn’t been arrested.

Police are investigating.  (AP)
