Cass County sheriff’s officials have submitted to the prosecutor’s office information regarding a man allegedly impersonating a police officer.
The agency last week received a tip from a Jones resident aware of a neighbor on Born Street who matched the description of a subject and his vehicle mentioned in a department press release.
A deputy responded to the address and located the vehicle in the driveway. The deputy made contact with the vehicle owner, a 53-year-old man, and questioned him about an incident that occurred Tuesday.
The owner of the vehicle said the victim passed him at a high rate of speed and cut him off when she pulled back into his lane. He stopped her using flashing lights on his vehicle so he could identify her, he told the deputy. The stop occurred on M-40 in Newberg Township.
The suspect stated his vehicle has flashing lights and a number of antennas because he is a certified weather-spotter as well as a Red Cross emergency responder.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending what course of action the prosecutor’s office may or may not take.
