Area school counselor traveled to White House

A Centreville High School counselor had the opportunity last week to witness what may go in the presidential annals as a historical footnote.
Sarah Dickman was a party Friday to what was described as the final official event in which Michelle Obama participated as first lady.
The program, which took place at the White House, was the “School Counselor of the Year” presentation through the American School Counselors Association.
The four-day trip was Dickman’s first visit to the nation’s capital. She attended as a member of the Michigan Association of School Counselors, and chairperson of its National Recognition Committee, a panel that selected Terri Tchorzynski from Calhoun Area Career Center as Michigan’s “Counselor of the Year.”
Tchorzynski went on to claim the 2017 national honor during Friday’s ceremony, which was overseen by Obama.
