Phyllis Jean Dodd, age 87, of Greenville, and formerly of Constantine, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Spectrum Health Rehab and Nursing Center in Grand Rapids. She was born in Cass County on January 23, 1930, a daughter of Kenneth and Ruth (Mallo) Conkright. Phyllis graduated from Cassopolis High School in 1947 and received her nurses training from Memorial Hospital of South Bend. On May 22, 1954, she married Robert Dodd at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2015. Phyllis worked as a registered nurse at Three Rivers Hospital from 1951-1954, Greenville Memorial Hospital from 1964-1984, and Kennewick General Hospital in Washington from 1984-1989. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Constantine, American Nurses Association, and Memorial Hospital Alumni Association of South Bend.
Phyllis is survived by sons Douglas (Christine) Dodd of Greenville, Dean (Maureen) Dodd of Geenville, and Dennis Dodd of Phoenix, 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister Edna Hassenger of Constantine. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Dodd, and brother Paul Conkright.
Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday from 10-11am with memorial services following at 11am at Eley Funeral Home, Constantine. Interment will occur at Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Greenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum United Memorial Hospital or Bishop Hills Assisted Living of Rockford.
