City resolution supports pedestrian trail

Members of the Three Rivers City Commission last week threw their support behind a proposed state grant to help cover the cost of a pedestrian trail.
A resolution endorsing the plan is required for the city to potentially qualify for a Michigan Department of Transportation grant. The proposed trail, which would run adjacent to U.S. 131 between Hoffman and Broadway streets, is being considered as part of a major overhaul of U.S. 131 through Three Rivers MDOT plans next year.
If approved, the grant would require the city to contribute 20 percent of the cost related toward the trail, which would benefit bicyclists, walkers and joggers. A potential cost of the proposed project has not yet been established.
The city’s resolution allows MDOT to pursue the funds through a federal source.

  1. Lovely – we have a river walk. Now we want a highway walk? Who thinks these wastes of money up?
