Two injured in motorcycle crash

Two Marcellus residents were injured after the motorcycle they were on was involved in an accident last week in Cass County’s Newberg Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were advised at 5 p.m. Saturday that a motorcycle went off the roadway on Dutch Settlement Road near Skyhawk Drive.

The driver, 37-year-old Ryan Hampton, told authorities he was heading west and after coming out of a curve, he observed a Case 580 tractor pulling an oversized farm implement. It was driven by Johannes DuPlessis, 26, of Schoolcraft.

Hampton drove off the road to avoid his motorcycle striking the oversize farm implement.

Hampton and a passenger, 37-year-old Jayme Hampton, were transported for non-life-threating injuries to Three Rivers Health.

Helmets were not worn by the motorcyclists.
