John Freeman Sr, 68

John James Freeman, Sr. age 68, of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning, December 23, 2018 at his home.
He was born June 23, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee son of the late Shirley Jean Freeman.
John resided in Sturgis since 2005 coming from Fremont, Ohio.
He was a talented airbrush artist. His work was featured in many different publications including Life, Field & Stream, and the New Yorker magazines and also by the Hallmark Company. In 1996 John was thefeatured artist at the Ohio State Fair. He attended Freemont Tech studying Graphic Arts.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1976 serving four years of that time in the Far East earning the rank of E-5.
He was a member of the Calvary Chapel in Sturgis and he had a true appreciation for most all art forms.
He is survived by his former wife: Virgie Louise Freeman of Green Springs, Ohio; one son: John James Freeman, Jr.; daughter: Tammy Forsythe of Tiffin, Ohio; grandchildren: Tevin Freeman and Taylor Culler; and sister: Becky Ann Prickett of Fremont, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister: Nancy Prickett.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Calvary Chapel, 66969 N Centerville Rd, Sturgis, MI 49091, where funeral services celebrating the life of John James Freeman, Sr. will begin at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Calvary Chapel Cemetery. Military honors will be conferred by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements.
In honoring John’s wishes lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to Calvary Chapel for overseas missions.
