Storm update – Indiana Michigan Power

Indiana Michigan Power has restored power to 94 percent of customers who lost service on
Sunday and is working to restore the remainder.
Crews have restored power to all South Bend/Elkhart area customers affected by Sunday’s high
winds.
In Muncie, Marion and Fort Wayne combined, fewer than 100 customers remained to be
restored as of 4 p.m.  Monday.  I&M is on track to restore their power by 6 p.m. Monday.
Damage in southwest Michigan accelerated late afternoon and evening Sunday, and 1,700
customers remained without service as of 4 p.m. Monday.  As crews approached some of the more
remote areas in Michigan, they discovered extensive damage in some pockets. Throughout
I&M, 40 broken poles had to be replaced.
I&M crews from areas where power was restored are heading to Michigan to assist with
restoration. I&M expects to restore nearly all remaining Michigan customers by 11 p.m., though
a small number of customers in the area of Buchanan may remain without service after 11 p.m.
Outages occurred and customers were restored throughout the day Sunday, with approximately
27,000 customers losing power at some point during the day. The outages were a result of the
high winds that continually swept through I&M’s service territory all day Sunday.
I&M thanks our customers for their patience as we work to restore remaining customers affected
by Sunday’s unusually prolonged windstorm.
