The Detroit Lions have become the first NFL team to go 0-15. But wait — there may be more history ahead. Detroit remained winless after closing out its home season yesterday with a 42-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Lions will try to avoid the dubious distinction of finishing 0-16 this Sunday at Green Bay, where they haven’t won since 1991. Expansion Tampa Bay set the bar low for NFL futility in 1976, when it finished 0-14.
Fans got excited when team president Matt Millen was fired following an 0-3 start and a 31-84 mark over his seven-plus seasons. But the Lions haven’t been able to overcome the mess he left behind. (AP)
