We’re in sort of a lull right now in Three Rivers. It’s rather peaceful and quiet. Water Festival is over for another year, and Harmon Fest is still a couple of months away. The Players Theatre on Millard is “dark”, now that the Apple Crate Kids have had their production of Seussical Jr.. Oh, there’s still plenty to do, but not much that is really going to grab your attention. For that reason, I’m going to suggest a few things you might consider doing by yourself or as a family. Last week I mentioned that the St. Joe County Transportation Authority would be inaugurating their “Three Rivers Circle Line” yesterday, June 16. A minor technicality has delayed the start-up of this service. The Sturgis Circle Line has been running successfully for several weeks now, and the Three Rivers Circle Line will soon be up and running. Please watch the Commercial-News for further updates as soon as they become available. Postal workers in Middlebury have started delivering 21,000 pieces of mail found two weeks ago in the home of a substitute mail carrier. The undelivered items include first-class mail, publications, bulk mail and parcels. The investigation began after customers in the area complained about undelivered mail. The carrier, whose name was not released, was arrested May 19th and resigned Tuesday. Officials say an investigation is continuing. Postal Service spokeswoman Susan Pfeifer says the carrier was a substitute and worked different routes. (AP)
City of Three Rivers Approves Budget

The City of Three Rivers has a budget in place for the new fiscal year that begins on July 1st. The spending plan was approved on a 5-to-1 vote last evening (Tuesday, June 3rd) following a public hearing. Read more
Three Rivers May Purchase Walk-Through

The Three Rivers City Commission has indicated a willingness to provide a down payment of $30,000 toward the purchase of the walk through connecting the new East City Parking Lot to North Main Street, but wants some details worked out before actually authorizing such an allocation.
