Dorothy Munk, 98

Dorothy Kathleen (Schultz) Munk, 98, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Three Rivers, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born May 6, 1912 in Three Rivers the daughter of the late Francis Willard and Ella Mae (Kaiser) Schultz. She was a graduate of the Three Rivers High School and an Alumnus of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago by correspondence.

She was united in marriage to Charles Kenneth Munk on Sept. 10, 1930, who after 56 years of marriage preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1986.

She and her husband moved to Kalamazoo in the fall of 1951. She was employed by Gilmore Bros. for a short time and for nine years as a file clerk at K.V.P. in Parchment, retiring in September of 1961. Her first love was working with children and for over 40 years she was dedicated to this work. She served in various churches in the area in this capacity, as well as serving on the Child Evangelism Board. She also served as church secretary and as Receptionist at Radio Station WKPR for a number of years. As long as her health permitted, Mrs. Munk attended Calvary Bible Church. Before moving to Kalamazoo, she and her husband were members of the Three Rivers Bible Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Eleanor Mae Riggs of Portage; one sister, Evelyn Myers of Three Rivers.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory one son-in-law, Robert Riggs of Portage; two grandchildren, Steven (Dianne) Riggs of Hickory, N.C., and Pamala (Warren) Logan of Morrisville, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Matthew Riggs of Hickory, N.C., and Jonathan and Joshua Logan of Morrisville, Pa.; several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 9 at the Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, MI 49093 www.hohnerfuneral.com. Dan Johnson will officiate.

Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Three Rivers.

Memorials may be donated to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Kalamazoo or the Moody Bible Institute Student Training Fund in Chicago, Ill. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
