New Traffic Signal

September 15, 2011 by WLKM

Officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation said a new traffic signal that features a left-turn arrow on U.S. 131 at Millard Road was activated around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

MDOT’s Nick Schirripa said despite a three-phase signal already in place at the location, the number of left-turn crashes warranted the installation of a turn arrow. He said traffic counts in the stretch of U.S. 131 between M-60 westbound and M-60 eastbound average about 15,400 vehicles daily.

The new, $20,000 signal was added at MDOT’s expense.
