Constantine Street project

September 16, 2011 by WLKM

The Three Rivers Department of Public Services is in the midst of a major infrastructure project, as work on Constantine Street reaches its halfway point.

Merritt Brown, special projects engineer for the city, said the undertaking includes replacing four-inch water mains with eight-inch iron pipes from Millard to Broadway streets. In addition, sewer-main replacement between Millard and King streets is taking place, as tree-root- penetration has caused damage of sewer pipes in the area.

Other improvements include a new curb and roadway. The $666,800 project is being supplemented with a $329,000 federal grant administered through the Michigan Department of Transportation, Brown said.

The project started Aug. 15 and is slated to be completed by mid October.
