St. Joe County Road Commission – seasonal restrictions
February 12, 2009 by WLKM
The St. Joseph County Road Commission has announced that it will impose seasonal speed and weight restrictions on all county roads, under its jurisdiction, with the exception of “All Weather” routes.
These restrictions go into effect at 7 a.m. Thursday (February 12th) and will remain in effect until further notice.
Seasonal speed and weight restrictions reduce normal truckloads by 35% and the speed to 35 miles per hour, depending on truck size and axle spacing. The 35 miles per hour speed restriction also applies to empty trucks if they weigh over 10,000 lbs.
County roads will be patrolled by certified weighmasters and those violating the restrictions will be subject to fines. Special permits for designated routes during frost laws will be required.
