Football Teams Fight For State

Two area high school football teams continued their march to the state finals over the weekend, as Constantine and Mendon advanced to the quarter finals round.

Constantine delivered before a home crowd on Saturday, but needed double overtime to top Schoolcraft, 37 to 30. The 9-2 Falcons travel to Jackson County to play 11-0 Grass Lake in a Division 6 showdown at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mendon withstood a late-game rally by Muskegon Catholic Central and topped the co-No. 1, Division 8 squad, 28 to 21 in Mendon. The 11-0 Hornets will host 10-1 Climax-Scotts at 1 p.m. Saturday for the Regional crown.
