The Michigan High School Athletic Association on Friday will stage the first four of its eight state championship football games at Ford Field in Detroit.

St. Joseph County will be well represented, as teams from Mendon and Constantine high schools will take the field in separate contests.

The Division 8 final will pit 13-0 Mendon against an 11-2 Fowler squad for the state title at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, 11-2 Constantine squares off against 13-0 Ithaca at 4:30 p.m. for the Division 6 championship. Ithaca, the reigning state champ, has strung together a 27-game winning streak dating to the start of the 2010 season.

No matter the outcome Friday, a community celebration to honor the Falcons is slated to take place at 4 p.m. Sunday at Constantine High School.
