Sturgis teacher placed on leave

An English teacher at Sturgis High School has been placed on administrative leave after he was charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Travis Neville was arrested Monday at his LaGrange County residence, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department. The department executed a search warrant at his residence and found an undisclosed quantity of marijuana. He was additionally charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony.

The 35-year-old Neville is free on bond.

According to a statement issued Tuesday by Sturgis Public Schools Superintendent Tom Langdon, the district acknowledges the incident. Any action will be taken following an investigation into any professional misconduct, according to Langdon’s news release.

  1. I contacted the LaGrange County prosecutor’s office. All of the charges against Mr. Neville were dismissed. Why was he not brought back to teaching?
