Loudenslager not running in November

St. Joseph County Commissioner Gerald Loudenslager has made official his decision to not run for re-election in November.

Addressing his elected peers at the conclusion of Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting, Loudenslager confirmed media reports last week that he will not challenge Board Chairman Rick Shaffer for a newly drawn district created as a result of the county’s reapportionment.

The 67-year-old Loudenslager, a 20-year board member, thanked his fellow commissioners, the county’s citizens and his constituents for providing him the opportunity to represent Leonidas, Colon, Nottawa and a portion of Mendon townships.

Shaffer complimented Loudenslager for his two decades of public service and wished him well.

Loudenslager will remain on the commission until his term expires at the end of the year.
