Transportation Authority recognized

The St. Joseph County Transportation Authority was recognized last week by the Michigan Department of Transportation for attaining 10 years of service.

CTA executive director Steve Yorks said the state agency issued plaques to transportation agencies across the state observing milestone anniversaries this year. He said the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority was acknowledged for being in existence for 10 years in 2012.

The event took place during the annual three-day Michigan Public Transit Association’s annual conference near Traverse City.

About half of the state’s 84 transportation authorities were represented at the conference, Yorks said.

The Three Rivers-based agency in its 2010-11 fiscal year provided a record 88,000 rides.
