Investigating case of embezzlement

October 25, 2012 by WLKM

Officials from the Three Rivers Police Department have confirmed their investigation into a case of embezzlement from the Three Rivers Little League.

The case centers on the former director of the 300-player league and an amount of money close to $20,000 that may have been improperly taken.

Police became involved in the issue after a former board member and sponsor was surprised to find the league had almost no money in its account at the end of the season. A per-player fee of $70 is collected at the start of the season and used to support the youth league.

The former board member and sponsor reportedly said the league’s end-of-season financial standing was always positive. He said he became suspicious when it was discovered the league’s account is nearly depleted.
