Save the Frogs Day successful

Organizers of Saturday’s local “Save the Frogs Day” said a turnout of about 400 people made it safe to declare the three-hour program a success.

A variety of games and attractions comprised the event, which helped shed light on the dangers resulting in a dip in the frog population worldwide.

Also present for the three-hour program were the Weenie King push-cart hot dog stand and representatives from the monthly Kalamazoo Reptile and Exotic Animal Show were on hand with more than a dozen frogs.

Three Rivers was one of about 300 communities in the United States to stage events to mark Save the Frogs Day. Communities in another 40 countries are also expected to take part in what was the fifth worldwide observance of Save the Frogs Day.

Event organizers are optimistic they will be able to offer a fourth annual local Save the Frogs Day program in 2014.
