Man sentenced for stalking and assault

June 26, 2013 by Administrator

A 42-year-old Porter Township man faces up to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of stalking and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, by a Cass County jury earlier this month.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz said Shawn Lockmondy will be sentenced July 12 in Circuit Court after the two-day jury trial that started June 11.

Fitz said Lockmondy in August 2012 disengaged his mother’s oxygen supply, action that Fitz said stemmed in part from his father’s refusal to drive him to work and other locations. Over the following two months, Lockmondy displayed intimidating behavior toward his parents, banged on their windows at night, yelled obscenities from the roadway and damaged their property, according to Fitz.

Fitz noted excessive alcohol consumption played a significant role in Lockmondy’s behavior.
