Man charged in fleeing incident

A man who sped away from Three Rivers police over the weekend was charged with fleeing and eluding, and reckless driving.

According to a department press release, police observed a vehicle around 5 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Maple Street near Armstrong Machine Works. The driver of the suspect vehicle sped away and while fleeing police, reached a speed of 100 miles per hour. The vehicle eventually stopped about two miles later in the 200 block of North Hooker Street.

The driver, whose name, age and residence were not stated in a media release, was arrested. A female passenger was detained but later released without charges.

The driver faces additional charges of driving with a revoked license, operating an unregistered vehicle and no insurance. He was also a wanted felon on original charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, escape from jail and larceny from a motor vehicle.
