Project to be completed by end of month

White Pigeon Township officials are expecting a major infrastructure project to be completed by the end of the month.

Supervisor Don Gloy said the $3.1 million project at the township’s sewage-treatment plant will result in new liners at both treatment lagoons.

In addition, new flow valves were put in place and new aeration systems were installed atop the lagoons. Also, upgrades to eight lift stations between the treatment plant and Klinger Lake, and Fish and Stone lakes in LaGrange County are being made.

Klinger Lake residents will see an increase in their monthly sewer bills, from an average of about $27 to $43. Meanwhile, White Pigeon village residents will see their rates go from $24 a month to about $32.

Work on the primary lagoon was completed last year. Attention then shifted to the secondary lagoon, where work started in April.

The plant services wastewater for 1,480 customers, Gloy said.
