Mrs. Roxann M. “Sandy” (Kaplenski) Woloszyk, 63, of Norton Shores, passed away at her home on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Standish on July 5, 1950 to Joseph and Mary (Kosemba) Kaplenski. Roxann owned and operated Lendonna Beauty Barber Shop in Alpena and was the hair stylist at Three Rivers Manor in Three Rivers before her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had been a bereavement minister at Immaculate Conception Church in Three Rivers. Volunteering was very important to Roxann; she was actively involved with Volunteer Muskegon, Loaves and Fishes food pantry, and St. Mary’s food pantry. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, kayaking, bicycling, cooking, crafting, quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers, interior decorating, and wintering in Bradenton, Fla. Roxann loved life and enjoyed many things, but her family brought her the greatest joy and always came first. On July 27, 1968, Roxann married Kenneth A. Woloszyk in Bay County and he survives her along with their three children, Nicholas (Dawn) Woloszyk of Richland, Denise (Jeff) Bordeaux of Norton Shores and Kevin (Amy) Woloszyk of Orland Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Jacob, Zachary, Michael, Adam and Anna; her mother, Mary Kaplenski; two brothers, Nicholas (Gail) Kaplenski of Bay City and David (Connie) Kaplenski of Elcho, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. Roxann was preceded in death by her father and dear friends, Helen and George Zimonich. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at St. Mary’s the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Mark Bauer presiding. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441, 231-759-8565 with the Rosary prayed by Sister Jean Karen at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. You may sign her online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
