Raymond Simpson, 66

Raymond L. Simpson, age 66, of LaGrange, Indiana passed away early Wednesday morning September 4, 2013 at his home.

He was born August 10, 1947 in Vicksburg, Michigan son of the late John and Leonea (Yeomans) Simpson.

Raymond resided in LaGrange since 2010 when he and his wife bought the home of their dreams. Prior to moving to LaGrange he lived in Sturgis.

On August 31, 1991 he married Christine L. Mathews in Sturgis.

He was a talented welder by trade and a skilled mechanic.

Raymond was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of E-5.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving stock cars and he loved his beer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Christine; step-son: W. James (Brandi) Tanner of LaGrange; step-daughter: Holly L. (Keith) White of Sturgis; daughter-in-law: Susan Beers of White Pigeon; 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; two sisters: Linda (Jim) Reed of Vicksburg and Marion Vickery of Vicksburg; two brothers: John (Colleen) Simpson of Vicksburg and Melvin (Suki) Simpson of Oklahoma; half sister: Clairabell Reindedeli of Kalamazoo and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Raymond Simpson; three sisters and one brother.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the ashes will take place at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 14th at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
