Michigan Main Street program

Officials from the Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority will find out in March whether their recently submitted application is approved by the Michigan Main Street program.

DDA director Christy Trammell said the nine-chapter application was sent to the Lansing-based agency Dec. 5. She said it took more than three months to complete the application, which, if accepted, would put the Three Rivers DDA at the “select level.” The select level is the second of three layers in the Michigan Main Street program.

Three Rivers is one of four communities vying for the three available select-level positions. If it is accepted, the Three Rivers DDA will receive five years of training through the Michigan Main Street program.

Acceptance would also result in the hiring of a DDA director, who would be selected before the end of May. Trammell would then re-focus her job duties to executive director of the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce.
